Slow and Steady, but Not Fast Enough

Writing is going slow and steady. I know that is a good thing. I know I'm not in a place where I can get thousands of words written down a day and get a whole first draft done in a month or two. So I consider what I'm doing an accomplishment.

I feel like a turtle in a race. I see the finish line in the distance, but it's SLOW getting there. But the point is that I'm getting there. I was amazed when I had 17K words, and now I have 36K. That is over double what I had.

I love to write and I feel like I'm good at it. It's just getting myself in that place to write. I have young kids, so I have to carve time out to write. I'll enjoy my young ones now, but I'll also enjoy them when they are all in school and I have even more time to write. Or at least quiet time to write. :)

Being a writer is hard when the little ones are small. I write from 5-6:30 in the morning before they wake up. Even then though, sometimes it's hard to drag myself out of bed. Just remember there's a season for everything.
